CPI(M) Files Defamation Case Against Biplab Deb; Jitendra Chaudhury Appears in Court for Testimony The Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] has filed a defamation case against former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb. On Thursday, CPI(M) state secretary and Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury appeared before the First Class Judicial Magistrate, Court No. 1, to testify in the case. The hearing was held at the bench of Judicial Magistrate Abhijit Adhikari, with advocate Haribol Debnath representing the CPI(M).During the proceedings, Jitendra Chaudhury’s statement was formally recorded before the Hon’ble Judge. Based on his deposition, legal notice will now be issued to Biplab Deb. Acting on secret intelligence, a team led by State Anti-Narcotics SP Shyamnand Sharma and Amarpur SDPO Paramita Pandey intercepted a suspicious vehicle on the Agartala-Sabroom National Highway.  The driver, Akash Burman from Konaban, attempted to flee but was apprehended at Choumuhani Bazar.Police recovered several bags and packets of ganja from the vehicle. The forensic team and local administration officials, including Bikramnagar Tehsildar Alak Chakraborty, oversaw the seizure. Allegations of Fake Educational Certificate and Concealment of Criminal Records Kailasahar, Tripura: Tripura Congress leader Chandrasekhar Sinha has filed a police complaint in Kailashahar against state minister and Chandipur MLA Tinku Roy, alleging fake educational certificates and concealment of criminal cases in his election affidavits, triggering fresh political controversy in the state. Congress leaders, including advocate Narsingh Das, held a press conference at the Kailashahar Congress Bhavan According to the complaint, Tinku Roy claimed in his election affidavits of 2018 and 2023 that he passed the Higher Secondary Examination in 2004 from Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.
