Telangana Government Orders Shift to State-Owned Assets by Dec 31

Fiscal Discipline: Telangana Government sets a firm December 31 deadline to vacate all private office rentals.

The state Gov. will completely stop disbursing rental funds for private buildings from February 1, 2026.

The Telangana government plans to utilize vacant spaces in state-owned buildings like these to save on rental costs.

In a major strategic move to streamline administrative costs, the Telangana government has issued a firm directive: all state departments operating from private premises must shift immediately. This wide-ranging order targets every government office, corporation, and university currently functioning in rented buildings. The administration has set a strict deadline of December 31, 2025, for these entities to secure space within existing government-owned complexes.

The financial implications are immediate.

According to the official circular, the state will completely stop disbursing rental funds for private buildings starting February 1, 2026. To ensure compliance, the government has introduced personal accountability, stating that the top administrative head of any department failing to meet this deadline will be held responsible for the oversight. This matter has been classified as a "top priority" task to prevent the further drain of public funds.

The decision is fueled by the availability of vast, underutilized state properties. Following the reorganization of the state, iconic structures such as Gagan Vihar, Parishrama Bhavan, BRK Bhavan, and Errum Manzil have accumulated significant vacant floor space. Many of these assets have remained dormant while the state continued to pay premiums for private rentals. By consolidating these scattered departments into centralized hubs, the government not only saves millions in revenue but also creates a more accessible environment for the public.

While the plan is driven, some challenges remain. A portion of the available government space is currently intertwined in legal disputes. However, the government remains firm that all "litigation-free" spaces must be active immediately. This policy reflects a strong commitment to financial prudence and efficient infrastructure management, ensuring that Telangana’s administrative machinery performs with maximum transparency and economy.
