Amarpur, Tripura: In a major anti-narcotics operation, Tripura Police seized 94 kg of dried ganja on Tuesday afternoon in Amarpur. Acting on secret intelligence, a team led by State Anti-Narcotics SP Shyamnand Sharma and Amarpur SDPO Paramita Pandey intercepted a suspicious vehicle on the Agartala-Sabroom National Highway.
The driver, Akash Burman from Konaban, attempted to flee but was apprehended at Choumuhani Bazar.Police recovered several bags and packets of ganja from the vehicle. The forensic team and local administration officials, including Bikramnagar Tehsildar Alak Chakraborty, oversaw the seizure. The total haul is valued at several lakhs of rupees.Akash Burman is being interrogated at Amarpur Police Station, and an NDPS Act case will be registered. Police are investigating the source and possible accomplices.
